Project Description:**
The project aims to enable people in opposition-controlled Syria to experience increasingly effective accountable and transparent security and justice services, which are delivered on a progressively formalised basis by civilian-led institutions; in increasingly resilient partnership with the communities.
In order to do this, the project will work with both communities and formal/informal security and justice (S&J) service providers to develop their capacity to design and deliver services that respond to the needs of the population. The project seeks to promote local ownership and leadership of the decision-making processes which guide the delivery of resources, including those supplied by the project.
Role Description:
The position will support the activities to provide assistance to civil registration efforts. S/he will be required to closely coordinate with other project components to ensure coordination of activities across the project. The Activity Coordinator role will also serve as the main point of contact between the project and its beneficiaries inside Syria.
Responsibilities:
- Implement relevant activities, including stipend payments and equipment procurement.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies in key administrative and implementation processes.
- Work with other project staff to effectively implement and manage activities in line with the project work plan.
- Assist the component in the design of new implementation efforts, if applicable.
- Liaise with beneficiaries to ensure compliant and timely implementation and verification of activities.
- Assist the Component Lead with any other duties as required.
The position holder must be Arabic-speaking, fluent in written and spoken English and have a well-developed cultural understanding of the current and past Syrian context.

Qualifications/Experience:**
- A minimum of three years of experience working for an NGO and/or development projects
- A demonstrated interest in access to justice, including civil registry efforts; a legal background would be an added advantage
- Experience of working on development issues in the Syrian context
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
- Experience of tracking the implementation of activities, as well as drafting concept notes and compiling forecasts
- A proven ability to develop effective relationships with external stakeholders and partners
- A proactive approach to problem-solving
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- An ability to deliver work under pressure, and respond rapidly to new developments
