PIH partners with local governments to build local capacity and works closely with impoverished communities to deliver high-quality health care, address the root causes of illness, train providers, advance research, and advocate for global policy change.

PIH currently has implementation programs in Haiti, Rwanda, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Peru, Mexico, Russia, Sierra Leone, and Navajo Nation. Through our partnership with Harvard Medical School and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, we support a wide range of programs in dozens of other countries around the world.

Position Overview:
The Executive Coordinator will provide high level administrative and research support to the Executive Director of Partners In Health, Liberia. Working closely with the Leadership Team, the Executive Coordinator will facilitate an efficient Executive Office. This is a great opportunity for someone with superior attention to detail and organizational skills who would like to learn more about establishing a program in a new country and help represent the strategic priorities of the Executive Office.
The ideal candidate will have experience with a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks, have the ability to work independently and as a team, and be an effective communicator. This person will need to interact with staff at all levels and across counties, as well as important external constituents, and must be exceedingly well organized, diplomatic, flexible, and resourceful. This person must exhibit great discretion, confidentiality, and sophistication in managing the complex and sensitive issues faced by the Executive Director and Leadership Team.
Specific Responsibilities
I. Executive Director Accompaniment

  • Serve as a liaison to staff in coordinating requests for the Executive Director’s attention to matters
  • Work with the ED to develop an efficient system of task and time management
  • Provide writing, editing , and presentation support to the Executive Director
  • Play a leading role in supporting the ED host high profile visits
  • Travel with the ED to meetings and site visits
  • Manage the ED’s schedule by filtering and prioritizing tasks, meetings, engagements, invitations, and other requests
  • Assist the Executive Director in managing a rigorous domestic and international travel schedule

II. Leadership Team Accompaniment

  • Assist in the preparation, execution, and follow up of Leadership Team meetings, including creating agendas, preparing thorough briefings, providing relevant documents including minutes and reports, and monitoring and tracking next steps and outcomes
  • Provide writing, editing , and presentation support to the Leadership Team
  • Serve as a liaison between the Leadership Team and in-county staff across counties
  • Disseminate decisions made and facilitate implementation to stakeholders

III. Project Coordination

  • Monitor and track projects and tasks, ensuring attention to time-sensitive issues and longer-term initiatives
  • Work on a variety of projects, including drafting policies, coordinating cross-county events, and archiving institutional knowledge

IV. Other

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience working or living in resource poor settings preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in global health and social justice
  • One or more years’ experience as an administrative professional
  • Organizational skills and superior attention to detail
  • Demonstrated competence in assessing priorities and managing a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision, take initiative, and anticipate needs
  • Sense of humor and interest in health and social justice
  • Demonstrated maturity, flexibility, judgment, and diplomacy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Willingness to live in a resource-limited setting and to travel to remote locations as needed
  • Ability to live in Liberia full-time
